While you see a lot of bands sitting around waiting to get signed, the Hillbilly Casino took a cue from bands like Black Flag, Fugazi and Youth Brigade—booking their own tours, self-producing and releasing their own CDs, and making their own merchandise. And that doesn’t even include the hundreds of hours the band spent in their old, grey Econoline van driving to get the rock 'n' roll out to the people. From thirty-minute opening slots, to three- and four-hour marathon sets, these boys bring their ‘A’ game, and you'll probably get tired before they do!
All guests must be at least 21 years old to enter Theater or to watch shows at Bar 360. All tickets are sold with a no return or exchange policy. All schedules/times are subject to change at any time without notice.
When Hillbilly Casino take to the stage in Kyteler’s tonight, the 2018 Kilkenny Roots Festival will be winding down.
It’s the last roll of the dice for gig goers on what has been a sun-soaked music-rich weekend.
If Monday is your first Roots experience, it will be a solid one, smashed full of quality.
Peter Oren gets the day started with a sold out show in The Pumphouse. Rachel Baiman and Molly Tuttle play the first of two shows in Cleere’s at 4pm. Hillbilly Casino begin to close out the festival at 9pm in Kyteler’s Inn.
Elsewhere, Loudest Whisper, The Midnight Union Band, Deep Down Detox, The Barflies and Bobbie Carey perform across the day.
